FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Financial Support

The Department provides financial support in the form of Teaching Assistantships (TA) and Research Assistantships (RA). A TA position requires teaching practice classes with a teaching load of up to four hours per week. An RA position requires a workload of up to six hours per week and may involve some administrative and logistical tasks.

Financial support can be extended up to a total of five years till graduation. The renewal of financial support depends on the positive evaluation of the academic progress at the end of each academic year, including teaching performance. In particular, to secure financial support for the second year of the Graduate Program, an average grade of at least 60% is expected in the first year. In exceptional cases, financial support may be terminated by an established date. In particular, financial support may be terminated if students miss classes or exams without authorization from the Director of the Graduate Program.

Supplementary financial supports is available under the approval of the advisor for participating in conferences and attending seminars during the third, fourth and fifth years, up to a maximum of 1000 euros per year.

Our PhD Students are also elegible for extra funding to spend a few months visiting leading Departments in Europe or North America, or to participate -in the final year of their PhD- to the national and international Job Market Meetings.
