Health assistance

All professors at the University of Alicante are enrolled in the Spanish Social Security system. This means that you have free access to health care services provided by Spanish public hospitals. The main public hospital in the city of Alicante is located in Avenida de Jijona. The University Hospital is located in the highway to Valencia. In addition to these hospitals, there are public healthcare centers in each district of the city. Medical check-ups are conducted in these healthcare centers. Other hospitals in the city, like Perpetuo Socorro or Vistahermosa, are private.

Empadronamiento

You are required to be inscribed in the local census (Padrón Municipal) in order to be assigned a healthcare center. Once you are inscribed in the Padrón you can ask for your Healthcare Card (Tarjeta Sanitaria) where you will find the address of your healthcare center and the name and availability of your office doctor.
